Pelvic Restoration – Post Surgery
The pre- and post-operative blueprint for urinary incontinence. Surgery repairs the structure — this program rebuilds the strength that holds it, with urologist oversight from the Barrie Urology Group.

Structure & Function
Why surgery alone isn't always enough
The Structure
The surgery
What it does: lifts, supports and sutures anatomical defects.
What it can’t do: generate muscle tone or neuromuscular control.
The Function
Pelvic restoration
What it does: activates, thickens and re-educates the levator ani and sphincter muscles.
What it can’t do: fix torn ligaments — which is why you had surgery.
Symptom To Source
Understanding what's actually happening
Our focus
Stress incontinence
What it feels like: Leakage triggered by laughing, sneezing, lifting or exercise.
What’s behind it: Mechanical weakness of the pelvic floor ‘shelf’, which fails to support the urethra under sudden abdominal pressure.
Urge incontinence
What it feels like: A sudden, overwhelming need to go, often with little warning.
What’s behind it: Nerve signalling changes or an overactive bladder.
Mixed incontinence
What it feels like: A combination of activity-triggered leaks and sudden urgency.
What’s behind it: Muscle weakness alongside bladder or nerve hyperactivity.
How It Works
Effortless, non-invasive rehabilitation
- Fully clothed and comfortable: no internal probes, no needles, and no post-treatment downtime
- High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetics (HIFEM): deep, penetrating energy bypasses surface tissue to reach weakened pelvic muscles
- Supramaximal contractions: a session delivers the neuromuscular equivalent of thousands of well-executed Kegels
Clinical Evidence
Strength up, symptoms down
In a randomised trial in parous women with incontinence, adding PEMF to pelvic floor training produced two outcomes at once: measurably stronger muscles and markedly less leakage.

Severity of leakage symptoms
Measured by the Incontinence Symptom Severity Index (ISSI). Symptom scores fell in both groups, but fell furthest in the PEMF group.

Why It Matters After Surgery
Source: Elhosary EA, Fergany LA, Mohamed MA. Impact of pulsed electromagnetic field on mixed incontinence in parous women: a prospective randomized study. Clin Exp Obstet Gynecol. 2022;49(4):91. Read the study. Results describe this randomised trial (40 women, mixed incontinence) and are not a promise of individual outcomes.
These are published trial results, not a promise of individual outcomes. We’ll talk honestly with you about what to expect.
The Blueprint
Your pre- and post-op protocol
Phase 1 · Before Surgery
Pre-surgery prep
- Timing: 2 to 8 weeks before your surgery date
- Protocol: 2 targeted 28-minute B-Pulse sessions
- Benefit: establishes a baseline of muscle activation and prepares tissue for recovery
Phase 2 · After Surgery
Post-surgery restoration
- Timing: starting 4 to 6 weeks post-surgery, pending urologist or surgeon clearance
- Base protocol: 1 session per week for 8 weeks (8 sessions)
- Optimal add-on: bi-weekly sessions for 8 weeks (16 sessions) for maximum literature-backed effect
- Maintenance: 1 session roughly every 4 months to protect your progress
