What Recovery Feels Like

The hidden toll of prostatectomy recovery

Most men are prepared for the surgery. Far fewer are prepared for what the months afterwards ask of them.

Urinary leakage

Involuntary loss of bladder control with exertion, coughing, lifting — or simply at the end of a long day.

Pad dependency & broken sleep

Reliance on pads or protective underwear, night-time waking, and quietly avoiding social or physical activity.

Intimacy & sexual function

Loss of pelvic floor tone contributes to erectile difficulty and reduced sexual confidence during recovery.

Core To Floor

Why surgery changes bladder control

Removing the prostate changes the mechanics of the pelvis. Understanding those three parts explains why strengthening works.

The prostate bed

After removal, the bladder loses part of its structural support, placing new strain on the sphincter and surrounding pelvic muscles.

The levator ani

The main pelvic floor muscle. When strong, it forms a shelf that holds up against abdominal pressure from coughing or lifting.

Core integration

The pelvic floor is the base of core stability, and supports bladder function, bowel control and pelvic blood circulation.

The 10-Treatment Protocol

Built around your surgery date

Phase 1 · Before surgery

Pre-operative optimization

Timing: 2 to 8 weeks before your procedure.

Phase 2 · After surgery

Post-operative rebuild

Timing: starting 4+ weeks post-surgery, with urologist clearance.

The healing window between phases is at least four weeks and always requires urologist clearance — we coordinate with your surgeon rather than guess. Treatment isn’t suitable with pacemakers, metal or electronic implants.

Passive Power

You sit. The muscles do the work.

High-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy reaches deep into the pelvis and triggers the motor nerves directly, producing contractions at a depth and speed you can’t achieve voluntarily.

Your Options

Comparing the paths to continence

Pads & protective wear Manual Kegels B-Pulse HIFEM therapy
Muscle
recruitment
None — the muscle is bypassed entirely Shallow and inconsistent Deep, supramaximal activation
Effort required Ongoing daily management High — daily, precise focus Passive; you sit fully clothed
Timeline No recovery, only masking Months, sometimes longer Many men notice change within the first weeks
Confidence Low — cost, odour, anxiety Variable — hard to isolate the right muscles Aimed at a faster return to normal life
